Executive Coaching Client Testimonials

Starla’s executive coaching has made all the difference in our senior leaders.

I have worked closely with Starla Sireno for many years, both as my executive coach, and as an invaluable partner in the development of the company’s executives. Starla’s process is thoughtful, thorough, and inclusive of the whole person. She coaches you to overcome challenges, break down barriers, and explore the possibility of becoming the person you know you can be. From the moment you reach out, you will immediately feel the relief of knowing you have a trusted partner who will be with you through the good times and the challenging times.

Too many executives don’t think about working with a coach until something goes wrong.

That’s not how I think about coaching. I liken our work together to taking vitamins or working with a personal trainer. I think of coaching from an optimization perspective. It focused me on the activities that have the biggest impact. I want to get better and I want to do it in the most efficient way possible. Having spent most of my career in a large corporation with a lot of hierarchy, you end up feeling like you wake up every single day trying to please people above you. In the process, it’s easy to lose sight of yourself. Whether you are a first-year analyst to joining the company or whether you’re a CEO of a company, there will always be some element of self-doubt. Am I good enough? Am I getting it right? The biggest take-away from coaching was an affirmation of who I am – my strengths, my values, and my priorities. By helping me reconnect me to myself, I am more effective at tuning out unhelpful noise around me. I hope that companies will get to a point where coaching is part of the benefits package. If employees are more self-directed, they will be less stressed and more fulfilled and it contributes to an better ecosystem.

My time with Starla and the Enneagram was one of the most impactful things my company has given me so far.

The Enneagram has helped me in the journey to self-acceptance and understanding. I now have more compassion for myself and more empathy for everyone in my life. This was especially helpful in resolving a conflict at work. I was able to see the unintended consequences of my blind spots while, at the same time, also increasing my understanding of the other person. Rather than put people in a box, the power of the Enneagram is how it humanizes people. I now have a better understanding of what leads to a more fulfilling life at work and in general.

If you want a general practitioner, go to another coach. If you want a brain surgeon, go to Starla.

There was a point in my life when an unexpected external event caused me to lose my footing. Starla was the guide who helped me rediscover myself. It’s not a new me that I found. It was the same me, but now I am armed with new tools. Our engagement was more than just a focus on being a better executive – it was about who I am. Now I know how to calibrate my strengths according to the situation, the audience and the objective. I go into each situation with a growth mindset. I am more aware and better able to calibrate in the moment. When I first started reading the 40- page report, I was shocked. It felt like someone wrote the report specifically about me. It was a game changer that lead to key insights and breakthroughs. Since taking it, I have become the unpaid spokesperson, telling everyone I know to take it.

Starla knew when to push me, when to support me and when to just call BS.

I started coaching at a difficult time in my career. Starla established trust with me extremely quickly which allowed me to bring up a very intense situation in our very first conversation. The kind of trust is rare within my organization and experiencing it made me behave differently as a leader and a mentor. Starla’s “magic” is her exceptional ability to quickly understand the organizational dynamics so that our sessions were practical and grounded in the realities of my day-to-day life. Through our work, I became less reactive and began to actively manage my career and, as difficult as it was, began to have important career conversations.

None of this would have been possible without Starla.

Partnering with Starla as my coach has resulted in the most positive and empowering transformation of my professional and personal life. When I began working with her I was at a standstill with my job; experiencing a lack of motivation, direction and increased stress. Through our conversations, I realized I had always let others dictate my career path based on what they thought I was good at. It never occurred to me that I could or even should have a say in what I wanted to do. With Starla’s guidance, I began to be more proactive in building a career that mattered to me. My relationships with co-workers improved and my ability to focus, prioritize and practice life/work balance increased. Starla creates an environment that is safe, collaborative and where exploration thrives. Now I have a plan, I have support, and there is no such thing as failing.

I would not want to have missed one minute of our journey.

I came to executive coaching because I wanted to understand what was missing in my life. I was immediately struck by Starla’s empathy. I left each meeting feeling less burdened, happier and filled with reflections that carried me through the next 2 weeks. By the end of our work together, it felt like an avalanche of development happened over the course of our time together. I now know myself better, including what makes me happy and I am more confident as a result.

Starla is your answer.

As a senior female executive in a leadership role at a global corporation, I often felt like my work and opinions weren’t taken into consideration with the same gravitas as my male counterparts. Starla helped me discover what motivated me at work and how to really tap into those strengths. I can’t recommend Starla enough- if you’re looking for an executive coach who can guide you in a non-judgmental, supportive and impactful way, Starla is your answer.

Starla helped me get more in-tune with myself.

Before I started working with Starla I was burned out and frustrated with what seemed like an endless barrage of requests for my time. I was always tired, trying to tackle too much, and never focused on my own needs or development plan. Starla’s coaching has helped me to become a more adaptive leader. Today I no longer feel burned out, and am now better able to lead with clarity, direction and the full, balanced, and most engaged version of me.

Working with Starla is a transformative experience.

Starla has a special way of eliciting beneficial insights and realizations from her clients by guiding conversations thoughtfully, absent any judgment. Early on, our work equipped me to develop healthy, effective relationships as an empathetic manager, bringing greater success and visibility to my teams. In recent years, our incorporation of the Enneagram has opened new pathways of awareness and broadened the implications of our work beyond the office, to life more holistically.

A true professional and trusted advisor.

When I first met Starla I was sitting in on and a facilitation she happened to be leading that day, what I didn’t realize is that I was in for an incredibly engaging and inspiring day. Starla’s ability to quickly build rapport with the learners (and with me) made the experience of being in the room personal, applicable to what I do everyday and most of all fun and interactive. She was able to cater the information and conversation to each learners needs and challenges on the spot. Being a past educator/facilitator myself it was easy to identify her skill set in reading a room and hitting all of the objectives without batting an eyelash…it was a privilege to witness and be a part of her professional sphere that day.

Simply put, Starla “gets it”

I first met Starla while working at PwC where she was highly regarded for her expertise in Executive Coaching and facilitation. Starla is very effective at understanding client needs and translating those into creative ideas for impactful L&D programs. Simply put, Starla “gets it” and I would recommend her for anyone looking to arm themselves with an effective executive coaching and/or learning & development strategist.

She has helped us navigate transitions during a time of rapid growth and organizational change. Her executive coaching has helped me to think more strategically and to become a more confident, effective and proactive manager. That first executive coaching session CHANGED my whole trajectory!

It was amazing – gave me things to think about that I had never considered. My boss has given me resulting feedback about how well I have “stepped up my game” – just by inserting myself more assertively in meetings. Wow!

I can't imagine a better coach than Starla.

Starla was extremely effective at getting and keeping our group on task, fostering meaningful discussion, and making sure each individual got the most out of the program based on their needs.

The Enneagram is an extraordinary tool for building self-awareness.

It confirmed behaviors and patterns that I had some awareness of but couldn’t fully describe or see the implications. Starla’s knowledge and experience with it was invaluable. She was able to help me focus on the areas that were most relevant to what I wanted to accomplish.

When I was dealing with a difficult boss

Starla taught me how to manage and deal with things in and out of my control, particularly how to have conversations about the things in my control. The Enneagram was a great tool that validated my behaviors and thought patterns, in ways that I wouldn’t be able to do on my own. It is a complex tool, but Starla was a great coach and guided me through the feedback. I developed clarity about what I wanted at my job and learned how to utilize these tools and prepare for having conversations about my career.
